I have a guy that I'm engaged to, that I've been with a year and seven months. We're best friends and in love. But, he likes getting drunk and smoking way too much. And, he hangs around cokeheads that I hate, and I'm scared he'll eventually do it. Or mess up.





I hear that you can set a guy straight if he REALLY REALLY loves you. I dont know how, dump him for a while? I don't know how to make him quit, I know he seriously loves me, so what can I say to get to him?

It's a tough cookie to beat drugs or alcoholism. If it were as easy as that, the struggles would be minimal to stop when our loved ones object to it! If he really loves you and wants to have a family in the future, he needs to address how it is affecting his daily life. How does he act when he's drinking? Does he go to work the next day? Does he drink and drive?


I would go to the AA website and read all the good stuff they have to evaluate the problem. Ask your fiance to read it to and to answer the quiz to see how involved he is with it.


Then he will have to decide if he wants to give it up. The more you read about alcoholism, the better you'll understand what you need to do. Good luck to both of you.
Sorry but you're engaged to a total loser. He'll probably end up in jail one day or maybe killing someone while driving high.
