How do you feel about not been able to make your bottles up for the day?

I have a 18 day old baby and right now im not living with my boyfriend and i find it really hard when my baby wakes up and i have to hold her while making her bottle up because your not aloud to make your bottles up for the whole day anymore even my midwife says its stupid what are your thoughts on it? do you find it harder or does it not bother you? xHow do you feel about not been able to make your bottles up for the day?
i made all my bottles for the day when my little boy was that age and his only 18months old now, and its not done him any harm....just make sure u put them in the fridge untill they need to be used. i cant see the problemHow do you feel about not been able to make your bottles up for the day?
You will get used to it. Just make the bottle half an hour before you baby is ready for it.

You can get ready mixed milk which is useful for during the night.

I would rather follow guidance... better to be safe than sorry.
Your midwife is wrong, you can make up bottles and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. If you dont want to do this, keep a flask of water on your bedside table and when your baby wakes up make the feed with water and powder before you pick her up.
WHAT. i make my sons bottles up for the day every day and so do alot of people out there.
I asked my midwife about this, she said the reason was partly down to poor hygiene (i.e. people not sterilising properly) and people taking out made-up bottles in changing bags and using them hours after they were out of the fridge.

I make up enough bottles to last 24 hours. I'm at a stage where I know how many bottles my son will take.

My health visitor had this suggestion. Say you're making up a 5oz bottle:

Put 3oz boiling water into bottle and leave until needed (you can leave it out of fridge)

When bottle is needed, boil kettle and top to desired level

add powder

shake

should be around the right temp for eating, if it's too warm you can cool it under a tap.

Making up each bottle one at a time is a bit of a faff, people have been making up batches for years. I'd never use one hours after it was taken out of the fridge.
why are you not ';allowed';? who says. shes your child, if you want to make up her ottles for the day go for it. i dont know of a baby yet thats been harmed from pre made bottles as long as its done right.
I do this - as recommended my midwife -

Wash and rinse bottles thoroughly

Sterilise

Fill with boiled water from kettle (allow water to cool for 30 - 40 mins before putting into bottles though )

Leave bottles on side until needed (max 24 hours)

I then add the required scoops of formula to the bottles as and when needed. (you can buy powder pots which hold exactly the right amount of powder if you're out and about or for night feeds)

If needed, I warm the bottle.

Feed baby!

Ultimately you have you go with your instinct and do what feels right for you.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmm when my son was born my midwife said u could boil the kettle leave it to cool, pour it in2 babys bottles and fridge but for no longer than 12 hours.... so all u have 2 do is reheat bottle then add milk. easy easy u can do bottles before you get in bed 4 during the night. x
IT hasn't done any harm to my three kids, and I am surely going to continue to do it hen my 4th baby, due in June, is born.

Which pen pusher came up with that recommendation?? Probably a spinster who has never had kids!!!
Who in the world said that you can't? The FDA has always said not to do it...but everyone still does!
You can make them ahead of time, just keep them in the fridge.
your midwife is a numbskull!!!
you are completely right. my mum just had a baby and yea it is so inconvenient. but it has to be done.
I still do it. Sometimes you need to just use common sense. If everything is washed properly and the rules for throwing out the formula are followed, and it's kept refrigerated, the chances of it going bad are very small. I also frequently smell and taste it because I like to know what my baby's eating.
what? I still make my bottles for the whole day and never heard I wasn't suppose to. where did you learn this?

Anyways, I still prepare a couple of bottles for the day, keep them in the fridge and whenever I am out I use powder formula just to be safe.
oops... i make up my babys bottles for his overnight/early morning feeds and pop them in the fridge. its easier than faffing around at 3am, just pop it in the bottle warmer and its done.
i did it for my daughter and she is a healthy 16 month old toddler now so it never did her any harm,i think its silly that health visitors and midwives say that.its up to you what you do as after all he/she is your child.just make sure that they are stored correctly like put into the fridge when completly cooled.hope this has helped.
I have month old twins and have been making up the bottles in advance since they were born. I put them in the fridge and warm when needed. Who has the time to make up a bottle when needed when you have a newborn baby screaming to be feed.
I haven't heard anything about not being able to make the bottles up for the day anymore. Where did that come from? I always made my son's bottles up at night and put them in the fridge to warm up during the night and the next day. It didn't hurt him, so I will probably do it again with this baby. I think people get freaked out too easily with that kind of stuff.

I have had to make bottles while holding him, and it is a pain because it is a task that really needs two hands to do, but it can be done.
I always make up my bottles. They can be refrigerated for up to 24 hours.
